I am not a hunter. I am not opposed to hunting...it was just not something we did in the big city where I grew up. But there are a lot of high school student-athletes in the Ozarks who spend quite a bit of time hunting.

Bolivar made history last Saturday, as both the Liberators and Lady Liberators won state quarterfinal games to advance to the Class 4 Final Four. It is the first time in school history that both teams have qualified for State in the same season.

Rogersville finished unbeaten in the COC-Small last year, and with Christian Brown and Marcus Gorman leading the way, the Wildcats are the favorites to repeat as conference champs. Bolivar and Marshfield are the two teams that figure to be the biggest obstacles for the Wildcats.

Bolivar has its eyes set on a deep state tourney run in March, and should take care of business in the COC-Small beforehand. Despite the loss of some key players, Marshfield will not relinquish the conference crown without a fight. Morgan Henderson and Buffalo also will be in contention.

There are plenty of intriguing match-ups featuring local teams in the second round of districts. Winners advance to next Friday's district championship games.

Bolivar’s Rafe Peavey entered his final season as the #4-ranked dual threat quarterback in the country. The future Razorback's play this season has done nothing to dispel that ranking.
